Easy Pasta Sauce Recipe

This is the easiest vegetable pasta sauce you will ever make!

It is a great way to get your family eating their 5-a-day and you can freeze it for a quick midweek dinner. Just reheat the sauce (microwave job) and boil some pasta. Happy days!😉

Shop-bought pasta sauces often contain a lot of sugar and salt so this is also a great way to eat more healthily.

My vegetable pasta saucepan can be made in pretty much the time it takes to boil a saucepan of water and cook the pasta!

To make it in super quick time, I used the Zyliss Easy Pull manual food processor which allows you to chop food with ease and consistency.

Chopping, mixing, blending and pureeing are easier and more convenient too with no need or fuss for electric tools and gadgets.

Besides chopping, the Easy Pull can also be used to prepare salsa, smoothies, cocktails, coleslaw, ice cream, mince for burgers, breadcrumbs and soups.

What do I think about the Zyliss Easy Pull?

Just pull the easy-grip handle 3-5 times which makes the blade rotate and in turn chop your food. For a finer chop pull 8-10 times.

The booster arm and sweeper arm ensure food is kept in the path of the blades for consistent results.

I did find just a couple of unevenly chopped carrots but really nothing to fuss about. I was surprised by how easily it chops food.

If the bowl was a tiny bit bigger it would allow you to add more ingredients at any one time but it's no problem to chop things individually.

The bowl and blades are dishwasher safe on the top shelf although the lid can't be immersed in water, so, I personally recommend an antibacterial spray sprayed on a clean cloth and then use to wipe.

Priced at around £26 over on Amazon I say this is a great gadget and I really like it.

Can I make this without the Zyliss Easy Pull?

Yes, you can! Just chop the ingredients by hand and follow the rest of the recipe.

Check out just how easy it is to use the Easy Pull

Put the onions into the Easy Pull pop the lid on and pull 10 times to finely chop.

Heat the oil in a large frying pan and add the onions.

There's no need to wash the Easy Pull at this stage. Add the carrots and celery and pull 10 times to finely chop then add those to a frying pan. Allow it to cook over a low heat stirring now and then.

Put the courgette into the Easy Pull and pull 10 times and add to the frying pan.

Now add the red pepper and pull 5 times for a larger chop and then into the frying pan.

Allow the vegetables to cook gently whilst stirring; you want them cooked but not coloured.

Stir in the paprika, thyme, oregano, a pinch of salt and a good pinch of black pepper. Pour in the passata and balsamic vinegar then give it all a good stir.

Bring to a boil then turn the heat down. Have a taste, adjust the seasoning and serve over cooked pasta (I like bucatini pasta) grate over some fresh Parmesan and serve.

Be sure to use vegetarian Parmesan if you are making this for anyone who is vegetarian. Also, check the balsamic vinegar is vegetarian too.

If you prefer a smoother sauce then you can simply pour it back into the Easy Pull and 'pull' a few more times until it's how you would like it and then reheat before serving.
