Harvey and Brockless - Review

Artisan Cheese and Fine Food

Oh my goodness, we love cheese in this house! Having been sent a range of delicious artisan cheeses from Harvey and Brockless.

Disclosure - I was sent a hamper of artisan cheese and biscuits in exchange for a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not required to write anything positive.

So, what is Artisan Cheese?

Artisanal cheese refers to cheeses produced by hand using the traditional craftsmanship of skilled cheesemakers. As a result, the cheeses are often more complex in taste and variety.

Many are aged and ripened to achieve certain aesthetics. This contrasts with the more mild flavours of mass-produced cheeses produced in large-scale operations, often shipped and sold right away. Source Wikipedia.

Shown on the cheeseboard above are just a couple of the cheeses sent to us, there are many types of Artisan Cheese.

  • Ashlynn Goats Cheese - has a monochrome appearance with the pure white inside set against a dark ash-coated rind and a thin line of charcoal running through its centre.
  • Perl Las  - a blue-veined soft cheese, golden in colour with a gently salty taste that is absolutely delicious!
  • Quicke's - a matured cheddar which has a very strong flavour, and to be honest it wasn't our favourite, but that's just our taste. We love a good extra strong matured cheddar but this wasn't for us.
  • Bix Cheese - a soft pasteurised triple cream cheese that sounds amazing. We haven't tried every cheese yet as there were such a lot. But fear not, they'll all be gone this weekend.
  • Blanche Goat Cheese was soo very moreish we ate the whole thing between us in one evening!
  • Shorrocks Lancashire Bomb - it's a creamy, tangy cheese in the shape of a bomb, we can't wait to try that one!
  • Graceburn - a jar of English curd style Feta cheese. Apparently, it's delicious served on toast as with avocados for breakfast, so I can't wait to try that.
