Baked Camembert Recipe
Oozy melty cheesy goodness, baked camembert is delicious. Take a hunk of crusty bread and dip it in - perfect for sharing (if you really have to)! 😀
Why you should make this
It's an easy starter course at Christmas, New Year, Thanksgiving or Valentine's Day. Although I could tuck into this every day!
You can prepare it in advance and pop it into the oven when ready - it takes just 15-20 minutes to bake.
Which camembert is best for baking?
You need to find a Camembert that is in a wooden box unless you are using a ceramic Camembert baker. Read on to find out how to bake Camembert.
Can you bake camembert in a cardboard box?
In a word, NO!
You cannot bake it in a cardboard box unless you want to meet with a bit of trouble! 😱
When baking Camembert you can use the wooden box it came in, provided you remove the paper wrapper, but not all Camembert cheese comes in a wooden box.
Camembert also looks great served in its wooden box, but I like to use a Camembert baking dish that comes with a lid. But however you decide to bake Camembert, it's really easy and so very, very yummy.
What to serve it with
- crusty bread
- bruschetta
- crackers
- vegetable sticks - only if you want to keep the calories down!
- cooked baby potatoes
Can you eat the skin on camembert?
Yes, you can and it's delicious!
If you don't want to use honey, you can instead, rub the scored skin of the camembert with garlic and then drizzle over a tiny amount of white wine.
Or you can add finely chopped crispy bacon, the topping is up to you.

Baked Camembert
Ingredients
- 1 x 250g Camembert Cheese
- 1 clove garlic - peeled
- 1 tablespoon of runny honey
Instructions
- Remove the cheese from its box and remove any wrapping or stickers and then put the cheese back in the box - or put the cheese into a Camembert baker.
- Rub the garlic all over the top of the cheese and add the smallest amount of olive oil which will help you to rub the garlic easier.
- With a sharp knife, make a criss-cross pattern in the top rind of the Camembert.
- Now drizzle over the honey and put the lid back on the box - it's best to put the wooden box onto a sheet of foil on a baking tray.
- If you are using a Camembert baker, just pop the lid on and onto the middle shelf of your preheated oven.
- Keep an eye on it while baking in the oven for about 20 minutes, until hot and bubbling.
