Cut down on plastic pollution with this range of eco-friendly products from Smidge.
Oh, and if you're wondering where to buy beeswax wraps and vegan wax wraps for sandwiches etc? Well, they're also part of the Smidge range, so do read on!
About Smidge:
The creation of Smidge is a result of the desire to reduce the consumption of plastic, and the launch of new innovative products using new materials will go some way to addressing this issue.
Each product in the Smidge portfolio is beneficial to today’s lifestyle, as well as being affordable, fashionable, fully reusable and recyclable.
Wherever possible, Smidge products are manufactured from 100% natural materials that are also biodegradable, quite simply a 'Smidge' kinder on the environment.
Smidge believes they can make a big difference by starting with the little things a bold and bright selection of eco-friendly products that help reduce plastic pollution and plastic waste.
The award-winning range covers a wide variety of categories from food on the go’ through to everyday household usage and includes a 'first to market' in a mix of 100% natural and biodegradable formulations that means no plastic or melamine makes it into the environment.
Slice and Dice Chopping Boards:
As you already know, I do love a good chopping board! 😍
I really like that these natural chopping boards are made from recycled sustainably sourced salvaged paper. Isn't that seriously amazing?
The boards have silicone grips on each corner to prevent slipping. It’s a bit like chopping on wood but better than wood, these are resistant to bacterial growth. The boards are also kind to knives and can even go in the dishwasher.
One thing I will say is this, although I've put mine in the dishwasher many times, I always remove the silicone grips (Smidge doesn't say you need to) but I'm thinking that after time they 'might' kind of stretch a bit and not stay on.
But as I said, that's just my thoughts and I could be totally wrong, although they need to come off to allow them to fully dry.
Available in three sizes in natural or slate with the following accent colours: Aqua and Citrus.
Ways to Reduce the use of Plastic:
Did you know standard cling film takes many decades to fully decompose?
Baco, the British company that makes wraps and foils, has manufactured Baco BioWrap, which it claims completely biodegradable and can be broken down within two years if put on the compost heap or sent to landfill.
Silicone Reusable Bowl Covers:
Replacing cling film has got to be a good thing and I really am impressed with these.
Cover leftovers in an eco-friendly, zero-waste way with these silicone bowl covers. Replacing cling film these covers create an airtight seal and can be used time and time again.
Plus the lids can handle heat up to 240°C in the oven and can also be used in the freezer, and you can also use them in the microwave to reduce splashes.
The Bowl Covers are available in Storm and Aqua and the 3-piece set includes sizes 14cm 22cm and 24cm.
Totally love these, all you do it literally pick a lid that's slightly larger than the bowl you want to cover and lay the cover on top of the bowl.
That's it, you'll find you can actually pick the bowl up (depending on its weight) but yep I tried it. So what I'm saying is they are most defiantly airtight.
Storage is easy as the covers sit inside each other.
The Smidge range includes:
Coffee cups and Hydration bottles
Chopping boards
Food savers including beeswax and vegan wax wraps
Lunchboxes and thermal travel cups and Picnicware
