KitchenAid Kettle and Toaster - Review

I was so excited to review the KitchenAid Velvet Blue Electric Kettle and 2 Slot Toaster. They're very stylish looks-wise and the colour is just gorgeous!

The KitchenAid Velvet Blue collection is exclusive to Harts of Stur and although it's great to have a matching kettle and toaster especially when they look as good as these do they can be purchased separately.

The 1.7L capacity kettle is part of the KitchenAid Velvet Blue collection and is in my opinion, the best kettle we've ever had, we're both totally impressed with it.

It has 6 variable temperature settings, ranging from 50° to 100° giving you the option to choose the right temperature depending on your needs.

The temperature is shown on a digital display and the smart temperature sensor lets you check the water temperature even when the kettle is not on the base.

Please note 2 x AA batteries for this function which are not included in the box.

Plus there is also a hold function that will keep water at the chosen temperature for up to 30 minutes when the kettle is on its base.

It has a 1.7L capacity, allowing you to boil large amounts of water in one go. It uses a 3000w element so boils quickly, and is covered by a KitchenAid 2-year guarantee.

The body of the kettle is made of steel and the handle is non-slip, soft-grip which makes it durable and easy to hold.

The kettle itself is cordless and the base allows for 360-degree rotation, making it easily accessible from all angles.

The water window is backlit (blue in colour when it's switched on) so you can easily see how much water is inside.

Featuring a shade control dial with 7 shade settings, allowing you to precisely choose your browning preference.

The toast/cancel button operates the motorised lower and lift which is far better than the usual spring-type where your toast flies up into the air; does your toaster do that? Our old one did!

The motorised lower and lift make it easy to start or cancel the toasting process at any time without fear of flying toast!

Use the Keep-warm feature to keep toast warm for up to 3 minutes. The frozen function gently defrosts and toasts.

For regular sliced bread, we found that setting 4 does the trick and produces nice golden brown toast. If you are then going to immediately toast another slice of bread we found turning the control down to 3 works perfectly as the toaster is already hot.

But this toaster also does a great job of toasting bagels and buns. Just select the bagel function and it reduces the power on one side of the heating element by 50% and gently browns the bottom of the bagel whilst toasting the side that's sliced.

We found crumpets work best on setting 7 and are perfectly cooked inside and slightly crisp on the outside which is just what you want.

There's also a Reheat button that does what it says; it reheats toast or crumpets in less than a minute but without further browning.

Extra-wide slots

At last! A toaster that really does have extra-wide slots; seriously I've had toasters in the past and although they state 'extra wide' slots none have been as wide as these are.

The KitchenAid Velvet Blue collection consists of both the toaster and the kettle and five other matching appliances. All are supplied with a 2 year KitchenAid guarantee.

Disclosure: I was sent both the kettle and toaster for review purposes. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not required to write anything positive.
