Homemade Pizza Recipe - Serrano Ham and Chorizo

Pizzas are so very easy to make at home and of course the best thing is, you can add whatever combo of toppings takes your fancy. For this pizza I used a selection of Spanish meats from the Tapas range at Marks and Spencer. Even the pizza sauce for the base is a doddle to make.

Serrano Ham and Chorizo Pizza

Spanish Serrano Ham, Spicy Chorizo and Lomo, finished off with Sweet Bell Peppers, Cheese and a little sliced Red Chilli. You can use a ready-made Pizza base as I did.
Using a spoon spread your tomato sauce on the dough leaving a 1cm (1/2 inch) edge.  Now top with the peppers, meats and sliced chilli.  Finish with a good amount of cheese and drizzle with a little olive oil.

Pop into your preheated oven for about 20 minutes.

Even the pizza sauce for the base is a doddle to make.

ingredients:

Tomato (Napolitana) sauce enough for one 10 inch pizza base:
1x400g tin of good quality Italian plum tomatoes - drained well from juice
a good glug of extra virgin olive oil - about a tablespoon
salt to taste
2 cloves garlic - very finely chopped
pinch of dried oregano

Drain the tomatoes from their juice and put them in a bowl.  Squish them between your fingers to break them up.  Combine all the ingredients together in the bowl and mix well.  Cover with film and refrigerate overnight if possible to let all the ingredients amalgamate.

**Be sure to remove the sauce from the fridge and give it a stir about an hour before you want to use it.

Now for the Pizza:
1 ready-made pizza base - I like the ones from M&S
1 portion of tomato sauce - see recipe above
a handful of green and yellow bell peppers - thinly sliced
Serrano Ham, Spicy Chorizo and Lomo - or whatever sliced meats you want to use
1 red chilli pepper - deseeded and thinly sliced
a good handful of cheese - I used Cheddar
a little olive oil for drizzling

instructions

Preheat your oven to 225C/425F or Gas 7

Pop your pizza base onto a pizza tray/dish or you can of course use a very shallow non-stick baking tray instead.

Using a spoon spread your tomato sauce on the dough leaving a 1cm (1/2 inch) edge.

Now top with the peppers, meats and sliced chilli.  Finish with a good amount of cheese, drizzle with a little olive oil.  Pop into your preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
